September 7, 2017

<from facebook post earlier this week>

Thinking about all of the things I am thankful for as I turn the big 3.0 this week and couldn't imagine being a luckier guy.

List isn't necessarily in any particular order but scratches the surface on all that I appreciate in my life and the impact that all of you have!

Enjoy:

1. Megan Drake for her never-ending support of me and all that I want from life. I couldn't ask for a more amazing wife and I'm g...

Legacy can be defined as the total contents of money and property that one leaves behind when they pass.

We all understand legacy however, as the impact that remains with the world once you are gone. How will you impact the people and world that you have interacted with in a way that leaves it better than when you started?

That's what it means to stand for something. For some it may mean growing out ridiculous mustaches and raising money fo...

The path to success in the fitness industry, and life can lead to many places and is likely to be ridden with challenges along the way. Over the past 8 years, I have been continually asking myself what that path is supposed to look like. I am by no means a genius, but I am pretty damn good at figuring things out...

So I have been actively seeking out that answer for quite some time now. Going to multiple fitness conferences every year, get...

"Functional" and "performance" are two relatively subjective terms often used to describe exercises and training like the moves included in the video above. They are of course relative to your goals from training but semantics aside, there are commonalities among many of these kinds of exercises.

They not only serve as a gauge of what the benefit is but also give us insight into the pre-requisites that clients should meet before graduatin...

In a society of people who spend their day in front of computers and with their heads down in screens (ironic...I know) we could all use a little bit more pulling in our lives. The TRX serves as a great tool for a wide variety of pulling exercises for clients of all levels to help combat this anterior dominance.

Common rounding of the shoulders, forward head posture, and internally rotated shoulders may not become magically fixed by...

According to history kettlebells came from Russia pre-1800s where they were used for weighing crops. Farmers found that they got much stronger from using them which transitioned their use into Soviet training and conditioning programs in the 20th century. Needless to say, if the Soviets trained with them then they must be awesome right?

There popularity and use in the fitness industry throughout the past 10 years would agree but...

Creating an Impact & Finding Success

Not sure I ever understood or believed the connection I could create with people as a Fitness Pro. A far cry from the Pre-Law and Business route that I was headed towards in college but I can't imagine doing anything else.

Fitness Pros and Personal Trainers get to help people find something within themselves that at one point they weren't sure they had.

I don't just mean looking good in the mirror (no...

Want to make great money doing what you love? Why wouldn't you but it might not be as easy as everyone makes it out to be. TRX is one of my favorite pieces of equipment in the gym. You would be hard pressed to find another piece of equipment that is as versatile and enables you to make some movements easier while making others much harder.

I also believe that including different forms of "mastery" in workout programs keeps you engaged. The TRX offers a lot of moves that require more skill development and improvement along the way which can not only often be f...
